If Feels Good to Give - Holiday Shopping with the Vermont Foodbank
It is scientifically proven that the act of giving makes us feel good! Giving a special gift to a loved one, donating to your favorite charity – these acts can make us happier individuals while strengthening our social bonds and local communities.
With the holiday season upon us, we are asking that you incorporate the Vermont Foodbank into your holiday shopping. With one in seven of us struggling with not having enough to eat, someone you know needs help. Here are some easy, some even cost free, ways to give back to the Vermont Foodbank while you are shopping for the upcoming holidays.
Vermont Foodbank Holiday Card
Looking to do something different for your co-worker, business associate, or a hard to shop for loved one? Please consider making a donation of meals in lieu of a traditional holiday gift. With a donation of $35, you will receive a special Vermont Food holiday card, created for the Vermont Foodbank by Vermont artist Carol MacDonald, to share with your family, friends, and business associates letting them know that a donation of over 100 meals has been made to the Vermont Foodbank in their name. Holiday cards will become available on now. Orders must be received by December 18th for a guaranteed delivery date of before December 25th.
Are you an online shopper? By downloading the Vermont Foodbank’s We-Care app onto your computer, many of the purchases you are already making, or are planning to make, can benefit the Foodbank. You just need to download our app (www.vtfoodbank.we-care.com/start) once. Then resume your regular online shopping activities through your normal web browser while the Vermont Foodbank receives a percentage of what you spend at We-Care’s 2,000 participating merchants, which include: Gardener’s Supply, Amazon, and Macy’s.
Not a fan of downloads? You can visit the “Vermont Foodbank mall” to shop directly at the 2,000 participating stores at this website (http://vtfoodbank.we-care.com/).
PS It Matters
PS It Matters (http://psitmatters.com/) is an online shopping venue for specialty foods. What sets this company apart from others is that 15% of your order is donated to the food bank or food pantry of your choice.
