Vermont Foodbank, Inc. Employee Benefits Summary 
 
1. Time Off     

  a.  Vacation –          

i.     First Year – 7.38 hours per month (12 days annually)         
ii.    2-4 Years – 9.24 hours per month (15 days annually)         
iii.   4 Years and over – 12.32 hours per month (20 days annually)     

  b.  Holidays – The Foodbank observes the following 14 holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Lincoln’s Birthday (floating from year to year), All President’s Day, Town Meeting Day, Memorial Day, Bennington Battle Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day     

  c.  Sick Days – All full-time employees are entitled to 12 days per year of sick leave.                 

  d.  Personal Leave – Upon employment each full-time employee shall be entitled to five days of personal leave.

  e.  Bereavement Leave – All full-time employees may take paid bereavement leave as follows, immediate family, 3 days; close family 1 day; other funerals ½ day.

     

2.  Insurance - The Foodbank provides medical and dental insurance

for all full-time employees, and their families.   The Foodbank’s health insurance is a Health Savings Account.  The Foodbank pays the premium and contributes ($52.08 for a single; $83.34 for a two-person and family) into the employees HSA account for 24 pay periods.  The employee is responsible for putting in any addition money they will need according to the IRS regulations.  A single plan has a deductible of $2,250 per year; a two-person or family plan has a deductible of $4,500. 

 

3.  Life Insurance – Each full-time employee is entitled to life insurance 2 X their salary at no cost to the employee

 

4.  Short-Term/Long-Term Disability – Each full-time employee is entitled to short-term/long-term insurance at no cost to the employee.

  

5.  Retirement Plan – All full-time employees completing two full years of  service are entitled to participation in the Foodbank’s retirement plan.   This retirement plan is a 403 (b) plan that is contributed to, on behalf of the employee, by the Foodbank at a rate of 5 percent of the employee’s gross annual earnings per year.  An additional 1 percent is added by the Foodbank as partial match to the employee contributed before-tax dollars over and above the 5 percent base.  Total contributions cannot exceed allowable limits.  Investment choices are employee managed.  Contributions to the plan may change depending upon the ability of the Foodbank’s budget to support approved levels.  Complete information concerning the benefits and conditions of this plan is contained in the descriptive information provided by the investment carrier.  Employees may enroll in the plan the 1st of the month 30 days after employment without any employer match.

 

6.  Work Hours – Office hours of the Foodbank are 8:00am to 4:00 pm with one paid hour for lunch and breaks.  Warehouse hours are from 7:30am to 3:30pm with one paid hour for lunch and breaks.  Hours may vary from time to time in response to seasons, necessity, etc.
