Helping the Vermont Foodbank is a great way to give back to our communities and our state. Read on for some wonderful examples of what some very generous and creative Vermonters are doing to help.

Special thanks to Governor Douglas and staff for spending time cooking in the Foodbank kitchen. The Governor and his staff made Turkey Mole that was packaged for distribution to food shelves and meal sites around the state.

Ecco Clothes for Women and Men held a reception for their customers and offered discounted prices in exchange for donations to the VFB. The $200 raised from this event will provide 400 meals for Vermonters in need.

On December 17th, the Pickle Barrel Nightclub in Killington celebrated the Long Trail Brewing Companys 20th birthday with the help of The Rustic Overtones, a seven-piece band from Portland, ME. Food and funds were raised to benefit the Vermont Foodbank!

National Life Group held an interoffice food drive, where employees were encouraged to bring in non-perishable food to be donated to the Foodbank. National Life pledged to match to donation dollar for pound raised. In total, National Life Group donated 2,100 pounds of food and $2,100 to the Vermont Foodbank.

The 2nd Annual doing our pART, online art auction to benefit the Vermont Foodbank, once again raised more than $10,000. Sponsored and administered by the Vermont Arts Council, this fundraiser allowed local artists to donate their work. The art was auctioned off during a week period and all proceeds benefitted the Vermont Foodbank.

Cindy Nichols of The Pampered Chef recently presented the Vermont Foodbank with a check for $4,324 as part of the Round up from the Heart program. As part of a national program, customers of The Pampered Chef are asked to round up to the nearest dollar when making a purchase. This money is then donated to local food banks.

The Merchants Bank generously compiled and published a wonderful cookbook that was sold to their customers and staff. All proceeds from this endeavor were donated to the Vermont Foodbank. Five hundred and forty cookbooks were sold, amounting to more than $4,000 for the VFB!

TD Bank held their annual, regional meeting at the Trapp Family Lodge in mid-November. Bank managers participated in a mini-Canstruction competition, building structures out of cans. At the end of the competition, more than 700 pounds of food and $1,800 were donated to the Vermont Foodbank.

Montpelier trick-or-treaters donated $88 to the Vermont Foodbank this past Halloween. The generous and creative Boutin Family of Montpelier presented their costumed visitors with the following option: Take some candy and have a happy Halloween, or - pass on candy and the Boutins would donate a dollar to the Vermont Foodbank on their behalf. Eighty eight children, or 66% of their visitors, chose to pass on candy.

The Vert Mont Chapter of the International Executive Housekeepers Association showed their support for the VFB by donating $500 this holiday season.

For the second year, Co-Operative Insurance very generously donated $10,000 to both the Vermont Foodbank and the New Hampshire Food Bank on behalf of its employees, directors and agents.

Richard and Ellen Clattenburg of Sunny Hill Farm donated one of their high-quality grass-fed cows to the Vermont Foodbank this past November. The Clattenburgs processed the meat and presented the Foodbank with 250 pounds of fresh ground beef.

For the last five years, the Wayside Restaurant has participated in Check Out Hunger, were customers are given the opportunity to add $1, $3, or $5 to their bill, which is then donated to the Vermont Foodbank. This year the Wayside and their customers raised $1,000!

On December 23rd, the White River Valley Players presented their wonderful variety show, Winter Tales in Rochester, Vermont. Admission was free with a donation to the Vermont Foodbank. They raised $983 for their neighbors in need of food this holiday season.

This year dozens of businesses and individuals, schools and civic groups held food drives to benefit the Vermont Foodbank and local food shelves and meal sites. We are so grateful for your work!
- Norwich University Cadets held their annual Pushups for Food and raised 920 pounds of food
- United Community Credit Union
- TJ Max of Vermont
- Barre Town Elementary School 1st Graders
- Vermont Chapter of the Student Members of the American Dental Hygienists Association donated toothbrushes and toothpaste for distribution to Vermont children through the BackPack program


C&S Wholesale Grocers donated multiple truck loads of food including 500 turkeys from their Corporate headquarters and hundreds more from C&S associates.

Bove’s of Vermont donated 4,000 pounds of premium Italian pasta sauce and Leader Distribution Systems, located in Brattleboro, donated 8,260 pounds of beverages.

Efficiency Vermont donated more than 31,000 of CFLs—Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs. These energy saving bulbs have all been distributed to clients around the state.

For the third year in a row, the agents and brokers of Heaney Realtors elected to support the Vermont Foodbankwith a contribution based on the year's sales.

Special thanks to our friends at Turtle Fur Group for their donation of hats. The hats were distributed to children thorugh the Foodbank's BackPack Program.
