This is a guest post from our colleagues at Vermont Public Television.

November and December bring a special sense of pride to us at Vermont Public Television, as 2013 marks the 4th year of a unique partnership between VPT, Vermont Foodbank and Northfield Savings Bank. During these two months, every membership donation received by VPT triggers, in turn, a donation of four meals to Vermont Foodbank – all thanks to a very generous grant from our friends at Northfield Savings Bank. Talk about a win, win, win.

The theme of this year’s campaign is, quite simply, “Comfort Food.” It’s a time of year when most of us start thinking about comfort food, and hunkering down for the cold weather ahead.  And while many of us are warming up the kitchen, a rather sobering fact of life in Vermont is that one in six Vermonters – and quite likely some of your neighbors – face hunger on a daily basis. For them, any food is a comfort.

This year’s campaign goal is 37,500 meals. That’s a lot of meals for a lot of Vermonters who simply need a little help – and with your help, we know we can reach our goal.

Through supporting this simple, three-way partnership, your single gift to VPT will do double duty. You’ll be supporting a valued, trusted community institution and helping to feed your neighbors in need – at a time of year when the pangs of hunger seem especially acute. That simple act could be a great source of comfort – both for you and for some hungry neighbors.

To kick-off the campaign, VPT is trying to raise 240 meals in 24 hours – TODAY!

We hope you can help.
