Healthy College Snacks (HCS) recently launched a program to join the fight against childhood hunger in America and chose Vermont Foodbank’s youth programs as its Vermont donations recipient. The company will donate $1.00, or 3 meals, for every box shipped in Vermont. To kick off the partnership HCS donated 900 meals, or $300, to the Backpack Program.

“We are excited to partner with the Vermont Foodbank’s youth programs because we believe kids should be worrying about working hard at school or which sport or activity they want to participate in, not where their next meal will come from,” stated Bart Newhouse, a co-founder of Healthy College Snacks.  “The Vermont Foodbank has several great kids programs, is transparent with their finances and work hard to raise awareness.  I know the donations will help them continue to do a lot of good.”

Funds from the Healthy College Snacks will benefit the Vermont Foodbank’s BackPack Program. During the 2014-15 school year, the BackPack Program will provide packs of food during weekends and holidays to 1000 Vermont children at 24 schools throughout the state. “We are proud of what the BackPack Program is accomplishing around Vermont,” said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO. “We are readying kids for learning come Monday morning by providing nutritious foods during those critical times when school meals are not available.”

Healthy College Snacks sends boxes of healthy snack care packages to college and boarding school students.  The company is dedicated to giving students a healthier alternative compared with much of what they have available on and around campus.  For more info, visit Healthy College Snacks online.
