Representatives from Long Trail Brewing Company, Farrell Distributing, and Hannaford Supermarkets visited the Vermont Foodbank with a check for $7,257, monies raised from a recent promotion in Hannaford stores throughout New England.

This summer, Long Trail Brewing Company donated $1 for every case of Long Trail sold at Hannaford Supermarkets.  In Vermont, Farrell matched Long Trail’s donation dollar for dollar. The program has been so successful, that the partnering businesses have decided to run the promotion throughout the holiday season—through December.

Farrell Distributing“Farrell is always proud to support a program that works with the Vermont Foodbank,” said Ryan Chaffin, Director of Marketing for Farrell Distributing. “When they are involved, we always try to step up our game because we know the dollars go to a wonderful mission!”

Funds raised from this promotion will provide nearly 22,000 meals for Vermonters in need of food assistance. “We are grateful for the longstanding partnerships we have formed with Hannaford, Long Trail and Farrell Distributing,” said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO. “This donation comes at a critical time—we are helping our 153,000 neighbors provide for themselves and their families.”

“While Federal food assistance programs continue to be slashed, the numbers of those in need continues to grow. Most people are shocked when they hear the statistic that 1 in 5 children in Vermont struggles with hunger,” said Jed Nelson, Marketing Director for Long Trail Brewing Company. “We are proud to have teamed up with Hannaford and FDC to try to help make a difference in our local communities.”
