Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is a non-profit, statewide business organization with a mission to advance business ethics that value multiple bottom lines: economic, social, and environmental. They help members set a high standard for protecting the natural, human and economic environments of the state’s residents, while remaining profitable.

And they achieve their mission through:

Education.

By empowering their members to solve environmental, social and economic problems. VBSR provides concrete resources and information to help improve members’ business practices.

Public Influence.

They initiate tangible change in public policy that combats exploitation and promotes sustainability. VBSR uses the inherent power of business to represent socially responsible ideals to legislative bodies, news media, and the general public.

Workplace Quality.

They work to enable every worker to live and work with respect and dignity by creating work environments and economic climates that provide fair income in safe work settings, and allow each employee to contribute to a high quality product or service.

“The Vermont Foodbank is a member of VBSR because that’s what we are, a socially-responsible, not-for-profit (or “for-benefit”) business.  We learn from our peers, make great connections, and can spread the message about the great work the Foodbank does in Vermont,” says John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO.
