Hannaford Supermarkets delivered nearly 390 cases of food to the Vermont Foodbank  as a result of the annual Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger program, an annual holiday charitable campaign.Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger

As a food retailer, Hannaford has long-standing relationships with food banks and local food pantries — donating food and healthcare products every week. Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger was established in 2008 to help food banks feed individuals and families in need. The program is a powerful collaborative partnership with Hannaford customers and suppliers to create opportunities for easy donations of food and cash right in Hannaford stores. One hundred percent of these donations go straight to local pantries, regional food banks, and anti-hunger organizations.

Since 2008, Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger has contributed a total of more than $6.5 million in food, customer cash gifts and Hannaford cash donations to local food pantries and food banks.

“Hannaford is an important coproate partner of the Vermont Foodbank. We are grateful for their loyalty and leadership on the issue of hunger,” said John Sayles Vermont Foodbank CEO. “We can count on Hannaford to provide financial and food support year round.”

During the 2015 holiday season, the program invited customers to donate money at the register, buy boxes of food staples for local pantries and purchase specific products that triggered donations by Hannaford to state and regional food banks.

The donation to the Foodbank include 109 cases of peanut butter, 100 cases of spaghetti, 59 cases of mini ravioli and 119 cases of oatmeal.
