Calling on policy makers to solve our hunger crisis

We are facing an unprecedented crisis in hunger in our state. Like all of you, I have seen the photos and videos of long lines of Vermonters waiting to get food boxes, and I’ve heard stories of huge increases in demand at our community food shelves and from schools working tirelessly to get lunches to their students. The time is now for policy makers to support a comprehensive plan to address food insecurity in our state.

It's that time of year again, with snow already on the ground and folks around the state making plans for the holidays to spend time catching up with family and friends over a hot meal. Every year as we exchange gifts and warm ourselves by the fire, our struggles seem to melt away, and it's easy to forget how many people right here in Vermont are finding it difficult just to provide food for themselves and their families.
