Inclusive Volunteer Screening

To advance anti-hunger work with attention to how we participate in systems that perpetuate inequality and lack of opportunity, especially amongst marginalized groups, the Vermont Foodbank will no longer be screening for felony or misdemeanors on our volunteer application.

Working towards a Vermont where no one faces hunger requires lots of helping hands and a drive to do good every day. Enter the Reed family.  “I just realized that I had four men who were about to go out and make their mark on the world and I wanted them to make it for good,” said Cynthia Reed, who along with her husband and three of their children are traveling to all 50 states and volunteering at various non-profits and organizations along the way. “You can’t know what you need to fix if you don’t know what the problems are.”

Gratitude for Our Volunteers

Each year, over 1,000 volunteers give their time to help our neighbors facing hunger in Vermont. From sorting food at one of our distribution centers to gleaning in the farm fields, these folks are making a difference everyday. Thank you all so much for all that you do from all of us at the Vermont Foodbank.
