Benefit Package

Vacation

Vacation time is earned before it is granted. Employees are expected to use their accrued vacation time before their hire date anniversary. No more than 80 hours of accrued vacation time may be carried over past an employee’s anniversary date.

Vacation time is earned on the following schedule:

  • First Year – 3.69 hours x 26 pay periods (12 days annually)
  • 2-4 Years – 4.62 hours x 26 pay periods (15 days annually)
  • 4 Years and over – 6.16 hours x 26 pay periods (20 days annually)

Holidays

The Foodbank observes the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • All President’s Day
  • Town Meeting Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  •  Day After Thanksgiving
  • The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
  • Employee Birthday
Sick Days

Sick leave is earned before it is granted up to a maximum  of 12 days per year with accumulation stopping at a total of 480 hours. Unused sick time will not be compensated for upon resignation or dismissal.

Family and Medical Leaves of Absence

The Foodbank provides this leave in a manner consistent with both State of Vermont and Federal law.

Short-Term Family Leave

The Foodbank provides this leave in a manner consistent with both State of Vermont and Federal law.

Personal Leave

Upon employment each full-time employee shall be entitled to five days of personal leave, subject to the approval of her/his supervisor.  Unused personal time may not be carried over from one year to the next.  Unused personal time will not be compensated for upon resignation or dismissal.

Bereavement Leave

All full-time employees may take paid bereavement leave on the following schedule (see employee personnel manual for family members included in the categories listed below):

  • Immediate family funeral – 3 days
  • Close family funeral – 1 day
  • Other funerals – ½ day
