Event update! Friday March 10th, 2017: 4:52: THE MAGIC HAT #9 FUN RUN is CANCELLED
Due to below freezing wind chill forecasted for tomorrow, we have to CANCEL the Magic Hat .9 Mile Fun Run. There was much discussion around this but for the runners’ safety, we felt it best to cancel this event. Also, the Hilton Garden Inn VIP viewing area reserved for runners and their friends and family will not be open, due to this cancellation. We are so sorry for the inconvenience but have to do our best to keep the event safe.
The parade and all other festivities are still a GO and we would still love to celebrate with you! If you are still feeling the Mardi Gras excitement (I know I am!), come down for the parade and enjoy the live music and festivities.
Join a warming swarm of raucous revelers in Burlington, Vermont for a weekend of bountiful bacchanalia and splendiferous philanthropy! The 22nd annual Magic Hat Mardi Gras Weekend takes place March 9th through March 12th.
All events over Mardi Gras weekend will serve to bring awareness and support to the Vermont Foodbank. Last year’s Mardi Gras raised enough funds to provide over 50,000 meals for our neighbors in need. Join us to make this year even more impactful!

Volunteer to help with the parade and sell beads, sign up for the Magic Hat #9 Fun Run, or buy some stylish Mardi Gras beads. All proceeds benefit the Vermont Foodbank.
Magic Hat #9 Fun Run
The #9 Fun Run — named for the popular Magic Hat beer — will begin at 2:15pm at the intersection of Church and Main Street. This all-ages run/walk will feature participants in magnificent Mardi Gras garb, with 100 percent of the $20 registration fee going to support the Vermont Foodbank. To continue with the #9 theme and throw a Magic Hat-style wrench into things, the 9th person to cross the finish line will be the winner!
Registration fee is $20, which will benefit the Vermont Foodbank. Register online here or at the Foodbank tent in front of City Hall on race day, between Noon and 2:15pm.
Registration fee benefits the Vermont Foodbank and includes:
- Mardi Gras swag that must be worn during the race
- Post-race water and snacks in City Hall Park
- The first 75 registrants will receive a ticket to the VIP viewing area to watch the parade in a crowd free zone, this includes a drink ticket for a free pint of Magic Hat beer to redeem at the Hilton Garden Inn Burlington lounge after the parade.
- Additional VIP tickets for friends and family are available for $10 each until sold out. They include Mardi Gras swag, entry to the VIP viewing area and a drink ticket for a free pint of Magic Hat beer to redeem at the Hilton Garden Inn Burlington lounge after the parade.
Fundraising: Since Magic Hat Mardi Gras is a fundraising event for the Vermont Foodbank, we encourage you to take this opportunity to raise fund to help our neighbors! During registration, you will be prompted to set up a fundraising page that you can share with friends and family to get them involved in the good deed you are doing. This is not mandatory, but you get to feel darn good about yourself if you take us up on it.
