They were valued for their nutritional properties and their cabbage-like taste, their popularity (yes, popularity) spread across the Americas. In the late 1960’s flavor was sacrificed for ease of harvesting; the result was a plant that matured evenly but tasted incredibly bitter. Thankfully and successfully, in the 90’s effort was put into correcting this flavor injustice and the modern-day Brussels sprout was born. So, if a past experience with these little crucifers left a bad taste in your mouth, give them a second chance.
