The annual Hunger Action Conference will be held on Friday May, 8, 2015 at the Killington Grand Resort Hotel. This year’s day-long conference will explore the relationship between hunger, health and nutrition.

“We know that our clients cope with food insecurity in a variety of ways—some purchase inexpensive foods that are high in calories and low in nutritional value, others overeat when food is abundant to compensate for feeling hungry when their fridge is bare,” said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO.  “Many of these strategies have negative health implications. Our clients are often at the highest risk for long-term health conditions such as high blood pressure, hypertension, diabetes and obesity.”

 

This year’s conference will include presentations and workshops from a board spectrum of experts on the issues of hunger, health and nutrition
