Share the Love 2018 with Twin City Subaru and the Vermont Foodbank

Today’s guest blog post was written by the incredible team at Twin City Subaru, who are once more fighting hunger in Vermont through their annual Share The Love event.

Share The LoveWith the holidays fast approaching, most people are making plans for time with family and friends to exchange gifts and break bread with one another. The nights are longer and the air is colder, but nothing brings people together like a hot meal. What many people are unaware of is that right here in Vermont, 1 in 4 people struggles with hunger. Vermont, however, is a state whose residents are largely community driven. People in this state look out for one another, and prefer keeping things local for that very reason.

Twin City Subaru has always taken pride in maintaining a strong presence as a community partner when it comes to charitable events, so it’s no surprise that for the 6th year in a row, they have chosen to support the Vermont Foodbank for their annual Subaru Share the Love Event! Starting on November 15th and continuing through January 2nd, Subaru of America Inc. will donate $250 per new Subaru sold, with Twin City Subaru donating an additional $25 for every customer photo taken and $25 for every one of those photos shared on social media. The goal is to continue to raise the bar on what has already been an impressive 5 year run of donations. Below are what the totals look like since 2013 for this event:

2013/14: $17,250

2014/15: $35,639

2015/16: $25,188 (plus additional donation of $5,884)

2016/17: $33,139

2017/18: $43,148

Grand total: $160,248

These totals, as well as the customer photos shown here are proof that people in this state are truly community driven. The customer leaves with a good feeling knowing that their purchase of a new Subaru is going to help hungry people right where they live and work.

Another driving factor for Twin City Subaru in continuing to support the Vermont Foodbank for the Share the Love event is just how far those donation dollars go. With every $3 donated helping to provide 5 meals for hungry Vermonters, it’s clear to see the kind of impact each new car sold is having for local people. In addition, the Vermont Foodbank has partnered with 10 farmers and 2 distributors/food hubs around Vermont to purchase 160,000 lbs. of produce this year as part of their new Vermonters Feeding Vermonters program. This provides a boost for the local economy, as well as fresh food for people in need.

With a new year on the horizon, good health is often a topic of conversation around the dinner table during the holiday season, and that starts with good food, which is something a lot of Vermonters struggle with having access to. A community focus remains at the core of the Share the Love event, and the partnership of Twin City Subaru and the Vermont Foodbank continues to fulfill a promise to help out local people in need. Cheers to a happy and healthy future for all Vermonters, as everyone should have access to high quality food!!
