DETAILS:
After a renovation project that took nearly one year to complete, the Vermont Foodbank is now fully operational in its Barre Distribution Center at 33 Parker Road in Barre, VT.

Thursday, March 25, 2023 from 2pm – 6pm, the Foodbank will host an open house for network and community partners, state agency partners, and other members of the public wishing to tour the space and learn about changes made to the facility. Media is encouraged to come between 2pm and 4pm.

CEO John Sayles and other Foodbank staff will be available for interviews about how the changes to the Barre Distribution Center will impact the Vermont Foodbank’s ability to provide food to neighbors across Vermont.

The building housing the Vermont Foodbank’s Barre Distribution Center was originally built in 2000 with the goal of handling 2 million pounds of food per year and about 20 employees. During the three years of the pandemic, The Vermont Foodbank distributed nearly 50 million pounds of food statewide, with the Barre facility handling about 65% of that total. Changes made during the renovation include increased warehouse space, improved racking, and upgraded freezer and cooler spaces, as well as changes to office spaces.
