After you submit your application, the next step is a phone call with Economic Services Division (ESD). It’s officially called an interview, but it’s just a time for ESD to review the application and ask you about anything missing or unclear. This step is required, so make sure to complete it! No appointment needed — just call 877-403-7668. Calling right at 8:00 AM usually means the shortest wait. You can also complete the interview in person by visiting your local ESD District Office. You must complete this step within 30 days of ESD receiving your application.

If you submitted the application online, you can call right after you submit the application. If you mailed your application to ESD, wait 7-10 business days before calling.

After the interview, check your mailbox for letters from ESD. They may request more information and documents. You can upload clear photos of documents online using the document uploader, or you can mail documents to: DCF – Economic Services Division Application and Document Processing Center, 280 State Drive, Waterbury VT 05676. ESD will mail you a letter with your case determination.
