This week, representatives from Long Trail Brewing Company, Farrell Distributing, and Hannaford Supermarkets visited the Vermont Foodbank with a check for $5,513, monies raised from a recent promotion in Hannaford stores throughout New England.

During November and December 2013, Long Trail Brewing Company donated $1 for every case of Long Trail sold at Hannaford Supermarkets. The promotion raised nearly $12,000 throughout New England. In Vermont, Farrell matched Long Trail’s donation dollar for dollar.

“Farrell Distributing is always thrilled to work with our long-term partners, the Long Trail Brewing Co., and the Vermont Foodbank to help raise much-needed support for our fellow Vermonter’s in need,” said Ryan Chaffin, Director of Marketing for Farrell Distributing. “As a third generation Vermont family wholesaler, seeing this kind of money go directly to those in need, makes being a part of this partnership much better.”

Funds raised from this promotion will provide nearly 17,000 meals for Vermonters in need of food assistance. “Farrell Distributing and the Long Trail Brewing Company have stepped up to help ensure that no one in Vermont goes hungry,” said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO. “We are thrilled to have their support and commitment and look forward to growing our partnership as we look for new ways to fight hunger in Vermont.”

“With food insecurity on the rise here in Vermont and throughout the Northeast, the work that the Foodbank does is vital to help those in our communities who are in need, including our children and the elderly,” said Jed Nelson, Marketing Director for Long Trail Brewing Company. “We are proud to work with our friends at Hannaford, FDC and the Vermont Foodbank to help make a difference.”
