The Vermont Foodbank Hunger Action Conference will be held Friday, May 9th in Burlington, Vermont.

This year’s conference will feature humorist and spoken word artist, Kim Weitkamp. Kim has worked with non-profits, specifically anti-hunger groups to help them tell their story—the story of making communities better.

“There is a stigma associated with hunger. Most people believe that hunger has only affected a certain type of person or group,” says Weitkamp. “It would shock them if they realized the truth—that many people, even some of their friends, have experienced times of great need and hunger. It is important that, in a country of excess, we help people see that there is still a great need. Actually, it is more than important. It is a matter of life and death, health and well-being.”

Weitkamp joins a lineup of speakers from Vermont and beyond to leverage the power of sharing information and resources for collaboration on the issue of hunger.  More than 300 attendees are expected to attend the daylong conference.

Registration is now open and conference details can be found on our website.

“The work of collaboration to end hunger takes time and energy,” said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO. “As we continue to work towards a Vermont where no one goes hungry, coming together for a day of sharing and learning with others in anti-hunger community in Vermont and beyond is vital to our success.”
